The Bachelor of Arts was opened in 1969 with the conversion
of Iloilo Normal School into West Visayas State College. Initially, the A.B.
with majors in English and Social Sciences were offered in the college until
1986 when it was converted into a university.
The A.B. in Social Science program was replaced by A.B. in Political Science in 1991 to prepare students to be more competitive in the
world of work. It was in the same year
that the first incoming students to the program were accepted in the college
and graduated as the pioneer batch in 1995.
The program has produced graduates who excelled in the field
of legal profession, the academe, government and non-government service, and other
related fields.
